TCG Collector Privacy Policy
TCG Collector is built to keep your information on your device. It has no accounts, ads, analytics, or tracking, and I don't run any servers that receive your data.
This policy explains what the app stores, when it connects to the internet, and which Apple features and outside services are involved. "I" and "me" mean Bill Dunay, the app's developer.
In short
- Your collection, decks, and notes are stored on your device.
- If you turn on iCloud Sync, that data is also stored in your own private iCloud account. I can't see it.
- The app downloads card information and images from the official Star Wars: Unlimited website. Those requests don't include your collection or any personal information.
- Camera scans and photos you pick are read on your device and aren't saved or uploaded.
- The app has no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking code, and it doesn't sell or share your data.
Information stored on your device
The app keeps the following on your device so it can work:
- Your collection: which cards you own, how many copies, and when you added them.
- Your decks: names, cards, notes, favorites, and any summaries the app creates for you.
- Your choices in the app, such as rule bookmarks, which card sets are hidden, recent searches, and scanner settings.
- A copy of the card catalog and card images, downloaded as described below.
The Home Screen widget and the "Import Cards" share extension use a storage area shared with the app on the same device. They don't send this data anywhere.
None of this information is sent to me.
Downloading card information
The app downloads card information and card images from servers operated for the official Star Wars: Unlimited website (starwarsunlimited.com). This happens when you first open the app and when the catalog is refreshed.
These requests only ask for card information. They don't include your collection, decks, notes, or any account details. Like any internet request, they show the server your device's IP address and basic technical details, such as the app's name and your device's system version. Those servers are not run by me, and their owner's privacy practices apply to that information.
Camera and photos
- Camera: if you allow it, the app uses the camera to recognize cards you scan. Recognition happens entirely on your device. Camera images aren't saved or uploaded.
- Photos: you can pick photos of cards to import, or share images to the app's "Import Cards" extension. The app can only see the photos you choose. They're read on your device and aren't saved or uploaded.
You can change camera access at any time in the Settings app.
iCloud Sync (optional)
iCloud Sync is off until you turn it on in the app's Settings. When it's on, the app uses Apple's iCloud to keep your collection, decks (including notes and summaries), rule bookmarks, and hidden card sets the same across your devices.
This data is stored in your own private iCloud account. I don't have access to it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by the Apple Privacy Policy.
Turning off iCloud Sync stops syncing but doesn't delete the copy already in iCloud. To delete it, go to the Settings app, tap your name, then iCloud, and manage your iCloud storage.
Other Apple features
- Apple Intelligence: on supported devices, the app can suggest deck names, summarize deck notes, and suggest decks. This uses Apple's on-device model. Your notes and decks are processed on your device and aren't sent to me.
- Spotlight, Siri, and Shortcuts: the app adds your deck names, leaders, bases, and the text of your deck notes to your device's search index, so you can find decks from system search, Siri, and Shortcuts. Requests you make with Siri are handled by Apple under its own privacy policy.
- Widget and Live Activities: the deck widget and the download progress shown on the Lock Screen use information already on your device.
- Tips: the app tracks which tips you've seen so it doesn't repeat them. This stays on your device.
Sharing and backups
You can share a deck or export a backup of your collection and decks as a file. This happens only when you choose to, and the data goes only where you send it, such as Files, Messages, or another app. Files you import, like a backup or a rules file, are read on your device.
Crash reports and beta feedback
The app doesn't collect crash reports or usage data itself. If you've chosen in your device settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may send me anonymous crash and performance reports. If you test the app through TestFlight, Apple shares with me the feedback, screenshots, and crash reports you choose to send, along with the details TestFlight attaches, such as your device model and system version. Apple's privacy policy covers how it collects this information.
What the app doesn't do
- It doesn't require an account or ask for your name, email address, or other contact details.
- It doesn't use your location or contacts.
- It doesn't include advertising, analytics, or tracking code from other companies.
- It doesn't track you across apps or websites, and it doesn't sell or share your data.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes everything it stored on that device. If you used iCloud Sync, delete the iCloud copy from your iCloud storage settings as described above.
Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices change, I'll update this page and its effective date.
